Artur Moraes

Artur Guilherme Moraes Gusmão or simply Artur ( born January 25, 1981 in Leme, State of São Paulo ) is a Brazilian footballer, who played as a goalkeeper in the 2010/2011 season for the Portuguese club SC Braga. For the 2011/2012 season he joined Benfica.

Career

The 1.92 m wide Artur Moraes started his footballing career from 2001 to 2002 as A teenager with Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte and then moved on to the seniors. In the club he was contracted until 2007, but spent the last two years on loan at Coritiba FC. With Cruzeiro he succeeded in 2003, the Double: Brazilian Championship and Brazilian Cup, in the same year and in 2004 and 2006 beyond the state championship of Minas Gerais.

After the end of his contract with Cruzeiro, he signed January 4, 2008 at the Italian club AC Siena, but was borrowed already on January 30 at AC Cesena. On 25 June the same year again Artur von Siena was at AS Roma transferred along with his teammate Simone Loria, in the exchange with the goalkeeper Gianluca Curci of Roma midfielder Ahmed Barusso respectively. Daniele Galloppa, in possession of both clubs, Roma and Siena, also moved to Tuscany. Artur had his first appearance for Roma in a friendly match (1:3) against Steaua Bucharest. After an injury of Doniéber Alexander Marangon he was the first choice before Júlio Sérgio Bertagnoli and Pietro Pipolo in April 2009, at Roma. In the 2009/2010 season, however, Bogdan Lobonţ and Doni was in the favor of the coach behind Júlio Sérgio, dropped back to fourth place.

In the summer of 2010, he therefore moved to Sporting Clube de Braga in the Portuguese Minho who just their goalkeeper Eduardo dos Reis Carvalho and Paweł Kieszek were deprived. He was substitute by Mário Felgueiras, as in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League 2010/11 newcomer Quim injured. After that, he was second in the rankings behind Felipe Ventura dos Santos before Marcos Barbosa Oliveira. When Felipe returned to Brazil in December, he was the first choice. Moving into the final of the UEFA Europa League 2010/11 against FC Porto after a semi-final win against Benfica on 18 May 2011, the club to which he moved after the season, his biggest success in Europe.
