Ezequiel Garay

Ezequiel Marcelo Garay ( born October 10, 1986 in Rosario ) is an Argentine footballer who is currently under contract at Benfica.

Career

In the club

Ezequiel Garay started his career as a professional soccer player in his native Argentina with Newell's Old Boys with whom he won the Apertura 2004. In the summer of 2005, at that time only 18 years old defender joined the Spanish side Racing Santander. Quickly, the young Argentine earned a regular place in the Kantabriern. Garay is considered an extremely prolific defender, as he scored 2006/2007 nine goals this season, including two by penalty in the victory over Real Madrid.

On 19 May 2008 it was announced that Ezequiel Garay goes to Real Madrid and a six -year contract signed with the trained Bernd Schuster Royal until 2014. However, the former U- 21 international Garay was initially hired for a year at Santander. After one season he returned to Real Madrid.

On July 5, 2011 Real Madrid announced that Garay will go to Portugal to Benfica.

In the National Team

He was a member of the Argentine U -20 national team that won the Junior World Cup in the Netherlands in 2005. In the senior team of Argentina but he has been denied just a game - August 22, 2007, the 1-2 defeat against Norway. Garay took part in 2008 with the Argentine selection of the Olympic Games and became Olympic champion.
