as-Salam al-Amiri

The National Anthem of Qatar was founded in 1996 from the song Long live the Emir (Arabic السلام الأميري, DMG as- Salām al - Amiri ). The text was by Sheikh Mubarak bin Saif Al Thani ( born 1953 ) written. The music was composed by Abdul Aziz Nasser Obaidan (* 1952). The occasion was the throne of the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. For the first time the anthem was played publicly in 1996.

The hymn sings of freedom and greatness of Qatar and calls the inhabitants to move forward on the glorious path of their ancestors under the leadership of the Prophet. The phrase " who raised the sky " stands for God. This term is used in the Koran (Sura 55, verse 7).
