Asa Butterfield

Asa Butterfield ( born April 1, 1997, Islington, London ) is a British Newcomer. He is best known for his roles as Bruno in the Holocaust drama film The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and as Hugo Cabret in the same fantasy film directed by Martin Scorsese.

Life and career

Butterfield was born in Islington, London. He began acting at the age of seven years in the theater for young actors in his hometown. A short time later landed Asa Butterfield smaller roles, such as in the TV movie My friend on four paws (2006), in the movie Son of Rambow (2007) and in the series Ashes to Ashes - Back to the 80s (2008).

A year later, Butterfield received the lead role in the film adaptation of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, alongside Vera Farmiga and Rupert Friend. Director Mark Herman chose Asa for this role not only because of his talent, but also because Butterfield knew very little about the Holocaust. Thus he could, as intended, maintained the innocence of the young Bruno. At the same time as The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Asa Butterfield auditioned for a role in the film Mr. Nobody, which he received also. Since the shooting, however, overlapped to Butterfield chose the former.

Before he was seen in 2010 in the horror film The Wolfman, Butterfield played the role of the Druid Mordred in the British television series Merlin - The new adventures. In this series, it is his destiny to kill Arthur ( the son of the king). But Merlin ( Colin Morgan ) has to prevent this. After his role in the first two seasons was seen in guest appearances, she was brought back to the beginning of the fifth season back in the series. Butterfield was, however, it is replaced by Alexander Vlahos. In 2010 he was in the family film Nanny McPhee - to see all of a sudden in a new adventure with Emma Thompson and Maggie Gyllenhaal. He also directed, directed by Martin Scorsese Hugo Cabret 3D movie. In the movie he starred alongside Chloë Moretz, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley and Jew Law the main role. For his role in Hugo Cabret, he was nominated for the Young Artist Awards in 2012 for Best Actor in a Motion Picture.

The end of 2011, it was announced that Butterfield starred in the youth film Ender's Game - The Big Game plays, based on the novel Ender's Game. In this film, which in October 2013 had premiere, he was seen alongside other young actors like Abigail Breslin, Hailee Steinfeld and Moises Arias, and opposite Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley again.
