Astatula is a town in Lake County in the U.S. state of Florida with 1,810 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Astatula is around 10 km south of Tavares and about 40 km north- west of Orlando on the eastern shore of Lake Harris.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 1,810 inhabitants distributed in 750 households. The population density was 317.5 inh. / Km ². 81.1 % of the population were white, 1.7% African American, 0.8 % Native American and 1.2% Asian Americans. 13.2% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.0% in different ethnic groups. 26.7 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 32.4 % of all households lived in 38.3 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 75.6 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.89 and the average family size is 3.24 people.

29.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.7 % were 20-39 years old, 27.3 % were 40-59 years old and 20.6 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 38 years. 50.1 % of the population were male and 49.9 % female.

The average annual income was $ 44,214, while 14.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 82.27 % of the population spoke Spanish and 17.73 %.

Economy

A significant industry, there is not. The main employment sectors are: education, health and social services: (11.6%), trade / retail ( 10.6%), manufacturing ( 11.7% ), construction ( 10.0%).

Traffic

Larger roads there are in the city area no. The Florida State Road 19 leads west past the town. The nearest airport is Orlando Sanford International Airport (50 km east).

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 46 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the very low range. There were two injuries, four burglaries and four thefts.
