Clermont is a city in Lake County in the U.S. state of Florida with 28 742 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Clermont is approximately 30 km south of Tavares and about 30 km west of Orlando.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 28 742 inhabitants distributed to 12,730 households. The population density was 1056.7 inh. / Km ². 71.7 % of the population were white, 14.4% African American, 0.4% Native American and 4.2% Asian Americans. 5.5% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.8% in different ethnic groups. 17.8% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 34.9 % of all households lived in 32.6 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 71.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.54 persons and the average family size is 3.00.

25.9 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.5% were 20-39 years old, 24.5% were 40-59 years old and 27.0 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 41 years. 47.3 % of the population were male and 52.7 % female.

The average annual income was $ 56,291, while 8.1% of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 91.23 % of the population spoke Spanish 7.33% and 1.44 % had a different mother tongue.

The crime rate in 2010 was 498 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the high range. There was a murder, twelve rapes, 27 robberies, 53 injuries, 194 burglaries, 697 thefts, 41 car thefts and four arson.
