Asterix and the Great Crossing

The Great Crossing ( original French title: La Grande traversée ) is a comic in the Asterix series, which was written by René Goscinny and drawn by Albert Uderzo. The comic first appeared in 1975 as a 22 volume in the series. The comic was the inspiration for the 1994 publication Cartoons Asterix in America.

Action

The fishmonger Verleihnix in Gaul, aremorischen village has no more fish because the ox wagon has not arrived from Lutetia. However, the Druid Getafix needs this urgently ingredient for the potion. Asterix and Obelix then decide to take a boat out to sea to catch fish. Asterix Obelix takes ' request, the power to throw out too literally. On a pirate ship they can get away with a birthday banquet that consumes Obelix up on an apple. You caught in a storm and lose their orientation.

After a long journey, they arrive at a coast and go ashore. There they meet unknown animals ( turkeys ), which they call Guru Guru, and strangely painted Romans ( Indians). You are in America.

Publication

The story appeared in 1975 as a preprint in the newspaper Sud -Ouest. The first edition of the book La Grande traversée took place in the same year at Dargaud as Volume 22 of the series. In Germany, the story was first shown in the issues 15/1975 bis 10/1976 of the magazine MV - Comix. The German edition of the book appeared in January 1977 Ehapa. With the 2002 reissue of the band was given a new title screen.

The band appeared among others in English, Spanish, Turkish, and Low German.
