How Obelix Fell into the Magic Potion When he was a Little Boy

How Obelix is flopped as a small child in the potion ( original French title: Comment Obélix est tombé dans la marmite du druid quand il était petit ) is a special edition of the Asterix series and a prequel of the comic Asterix the Gaul, in which one learns how Obelix came to his strength. The story does not have the form of a comic, but consists of an illustrated text. The text was written by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo of the images. The text of the first edition appeared in 1965 in the French magazine Pilote.

Action

Asterix tells the story of Gallic children, with Obelix sitting next to him. He begins to tell of his family: He had a petite mother and was born in the Gallic village that could not be conquered by the Romans.

Obelix was the son of a menhir manufacturer. Because he was a little pudgy ( he even then had a fondness for roast boar ) and also sensitive, he was teased by the other village children - only Asterix held to him.

In school they were taught by the Druid Getafix, Asterix being the best in class, Obelix, however, was poor. However, the lesson was interrupted by repeated attacks of the Romans and the druid had to take the students to teach, spread the potion, so that the Romans could be sold. The women had to prepare the feast, it was periodically thereafter. The students had free during the Roman attacks.

One day the Romans attacked again and the children did not know how to bridge the free time. As was the strongest boy in the class, Gummiarabix, the idea Obelix to make a Roman, and to beat him. All, except Asterix, followed the idea and beat him. After the incident, Asterix Obelix persuaded to secretly take a sip of potion Getafix. However, there was a problem: When Asterix Obelix warned that the warriors were coming back sooner than expected, Obelix fell in terror into the boiler. Publication

The story first appeared in 1965 in issue # 291 of the French magazine Pilote. In 1989 the story was published as an album with Albert Uderzo of newly drawn images. The album is similar externally designed the other Asterix albums, but not numerically integrated in the series. A revised edition of the album with a revised translation appeared in Germany in 2009.
