Asterix in Belgium
Asterix in Belgium ( original French title: Astérix chez les Belges ) is the 24th volume of the Asterix comic book series and appeared in 1979 in French and German. It is the last Asterix band, comes the text by René Goscinny. The drawings are by Albert Uderzo.
Action
The plot is based on the choice made by Julius Caesar at the beginning of his work, De bello Gallico statement: " From all of these [ tribes ] the bravest are the Belger ... " As Majestix, the chief of the little Gaulish village, learns of this judgment, feels, he offended in his honor, and decides to prove in competition with the Belgians, that in truth he ( "I'll prove to you all that I am the bravest Gallierstamm !") and his people are the Allertapfersten. Consequently, start both the Belgians and Majestix, Asterix and Obelix, Getafix on which ' have traveled after her boss 's behest, so that " the story is not angry " presumes " to systematically devastate Roman camp in Belgium. Finally, Caesar learns of these events and appears even in Belgium. Comments
Both of Tintin famous detectives Thomson and Thompson have in the comic a guest appearance, as they report that Julius Caesar arrived in Belgium. Furthermore cartoons by Pierre Tchernia and Annie Cordy appear in the comic. The country is cliched depicted as flat and featureless, with a quotation from the song " Le plat pays " from the year 1962 by Jacques Brel is used. Country also typical dishes that are eaten, and the Brussels or Bruges tips that will eventually serve as a white flag, and of course the Manneken Pis, the Asterix and Obelix are bodily confronts. The fact that the two leaders of the Belgians are always in conflict with each playing one hand at Caesars historical examination of Ambiorix and Catavolcus, on the other hand, the division of the country into a Flemish and a Walloon part of.

Some drawings of the comic allude to works of art. Most obvious is to edit the " Peasant Wedding " by Pieter Bruegel. It is also about a painting by Ernest Meissonier, Napoleon I and his troops shows played.

In France, the story appeared in 1979 as an album published by Dargaud. In the German translation was pre- printed in TV guide " GONG " in the issues 38/1978 bis 20/1979 each week and 1979 published as Volume 24 of the Asterix series. 2002, this band has been reissued and was given a new title screen.
The band appeared among others in English, Spanish and Turkish.
