Asterix the Legionary

Asterix the Legionary ( original French title: Astérix légionnaire ) is a comic in the Asterix series, written by René Goscinny and drawn by Albert Uderzo. The comic first appeared in 1966 and is the tenth volume in the series. The animated film Asterix - Caesar 's victory over the 1985 based in part on this tape.

Action

Obelix falls in love with a young, blonde Panacea. He makes her shy the court, but must then learn that she has a fiance - Tragicomix, which was recently forced into the Roman army and had to move to Africa. Asterix and Obelix decide to bring him back. Sign up as volunteers for the Roman army and finish primary education. With their new comrades they travel to Africa and find that Tragicomix has been captured by Scipio's troops. They storm the camp of Scipio and free him. By their attack they help Julius Caesar to victory over Scipio. Thanks to Caesar permitted them to return with Tragicomix home. Panacea is overjoyed and thanked Asterix and Obelix with a kiss. Obelix then faints. When the Gauls together to celebrate the great feast, Asterix sitting dreamily off on the branch of a tree.

Comments

This volume draws its comedy special from the mix of people in the centuria of the Gauls, who confronted their national stereotypes and causes many misunderstandings, despite the efforts of the translator. At the same time, the story is a parody of military drill and discipline, which are undermined by the invincible Gauls with wit and aplomb.

Publication

The story was published on November 10, 1966 in Pilote issues 368-389. Astérix légionnaire first appeared in 1967 Dargaud as Volume 10 of the series. In Germany, the reader saw Asterix the Legionary in 1969 in books 4 to 12 of the magazine MV - Comix. The German edition of the book was 1971. 2002 this band has been reissued and was given a new title screen.
