Ataşehir is the capital of the district of the Turkish province of İstanbul as well as a district on the Asian side of İstanbul. According to the last census Ataşehir had 351,046 inhabitants (as of December 2008).

Economy and infrastructure

2008 independent Ataşehir and Çekmeköy from the adjacent district of Ümraniye and have since own neighborhoods. In the 2000s, Ataşehir developed into a satellite city. In the newly developed areas of the district originated many modern residential complexes in which around 80,000 people living in 18,000 high-rise owners. Most of the inhabitants belong to the middle class with higher incomes. In Ataşehir the per capita income is well above the average of Istanbul. Many well-known companies are located in and Ataşehir Ataşehir developed in recent years into a business and commercial center on the Asian side of Istanbul.

The main street of the city is the satellite Ataşehir Bulvarı. In the boulevard there are many public institutions Ataşehirs. The Ataşehir Bulvarı includes some elementary schools such as the forward-looking Bilfen Ataşehir İlkokulu, a high school ( Ataşehir Lisesi ), a cinema, a Migros supermarket, a post office, many real estate agencies and various service providers and businesses.
