Kartal ( Turkish for eagle ) is the capital of the eponymous district of the Turkish province of İstanbul as well as a district on the Asian side of İstanbul. Kartal had according to the last census, 426 748 inhabitants (as at end December 2008).

Sports

The football club Kartalspor comes from this district, and currently plays in the TFF First League 2, the third highest Turkish league.

Traffic

Road

By Kartal the highway D100, which continues from the Bulgarian border to Iran runs. In addition, the city can be reached via the Bağdat Avenue, which connects with the Kartal district of Kadıköy zentralgelegeneren. Season Across a ferry is operated on the Istanbul 's Princes' Islands. In addition, there is a passenger ferry to the east of Istanbul port city of Yalova. This city is located on the opposite side of the Marmara Sea.

  • The published in 2009 novel The Lost Symbol of the American author Dan Brown is partly set in the Istanbul district of Kartal.
