Audax Italiano

Audax Italiano La Florida SADP, until 2007 known as Audax Club Sportivo Italiano, is a football club based in the district of La Florida in the Chilean capital Santiago de Chile. The colors of 1910 established for the purpose of bicycle sport by Italian immigrants association are green and white. The four-time national champion in 1934 one of the eight founding members of the Chilean professional league.

The club took its present name when it became a corporation and bears since then express the name of the home district to its attachment. The coat of arms of the club retained the historic initials ACSI.

History

The club was founded in October 1910 at the hat shop of Alberto Caffi of Italian immigrants as a cycling club Audax Club Ciclista Italiano ( → Audax ). Alberto Caffi itself remained more than 23 years as president and a bicycle tire is still located in the center of the club crest.

Football is played at Audax since 1917. But it was not until 1922, when a corresponding section of the club was launched, which has also led to the renaming of the club in Audax Club Sportivo Italiano. The December 9, 1932 marked a dark point in the history of Audax. In a grandstand collapsed at the Estadio Italiano during the championship final against Colo -Colo three people died and 130 others were injured, some seriously. With the championship of 1948, the golden era of the club came to an end, although in 1957 with the fourth league title once again managed to build it.

Audax sank into mediocrity and finally rose for the first time from 1971. After the 1976 season managed to rise again. Stadium

The home ground of Audax is the multi-purpose stadium Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida. The communal swimming stadium was inaugurated in 1986 and holds 12,000 seats. It has a playing surface made of artificial turf. The stadium is part of a larger sports complex which also training fields, spas, and the like.

The stadium was upgraded for the 2008 taking place U- 20 Women's World Cup. The opening game was a friendly football international match on 13 November 2008 between the women's teams of Chile and France that the host opponents won 3-0.
