Audax Italiano
Audax Italiano La Florida SADP, until 2007 known as Audax Club Sportivo Italiano, is a football club based in the district of La Florida in the Chilean capital Santiago de Chile. The colors of 1910 established for the purpose of bicycle sport by Italian immigrants association are green and white. The four-time national champion in 1934 one of the eight founding members of the Chilean professional league.
The club took its present name when it became a corporation and bears since then express the name of the home district to its attachment. The coat of arms of the club retained the historic initials ACSI.
History
The club was founded in October 1910 at the hat shop of Alberto Caffi of Italian immigrants as a cycling club Audax Club Ciclista Italiano ( → Audax ). Alberto Caffi itself remained more than 23 years as president and a bicycle tire is still located in the center of the club crest.
Football is played at Audax since 1917. But it was not until 1922, when a corresponding section of the club was launched, which has also led to the renaming of the club in Audax Club Sportivo Italiano. In 1921 joined the club in the capital League Metropolitana, where he was able in 1924 to celebrate his first major success. Audax counted in the following years, still among the leading clubs. 1931, the team won the title of the Primera División de la Liga Central, which was held by the Asociación de Football de Santiago.
The December 9, 1932 marked a dark point in the history of Audax. In a grandstand collapsed at the Estadio Italiano during the championship final against Colo -Colo three people died and 130 others were injured, some seriously. That this was seen with the score at 2-1 broken for Colo-Colo game for opponents, was secondary in these circumstances.
Between January and October 1933, the team took Audax on a three - America tour, a journey through North, Central and South America. Of the completed during the tour 68 games the team won 48 and only suffered nine defeats.
When in 1933 the Chilean professional league resumed their game operation, the team was initially traveling. They came in fifth of the eight teams that founded the League. In the next season, the first runner-up followed with two points behind defending CD Magallanes. 1935, both teams were tied at the end. But Magallanes was at the green table erstreiten another point and thus achieved a championship hat-trick.
Finally, in 1936 succeeded Audax winning the championship. 1937 Audax reached the final of the Campeonato de Apertura Vorsaisonturnieres, but it lost to the then arch-rival Magallanes 0-2. Before the following season, there was a 1-3 defeat in the final of the same tournament against Colo -Colo. 1941 Audax moved for the third time in the finals of the competition and was able to win against Magallanes the first title of this tournament, this time by 2-1. 1943 and 1944, the Audinos came to two other finals, but subject in each case against Santiago Morning, one of the top teams of that era.
After rather mixed years in the championships of the late 1930s and early 1940s, Audax won 1946 and 1948 the Chilean championship, which could be secured only three games before the end of the season the latter. Juan Zárate scored 22 goals that year for Audax and scorer. With the championship of 1948, the golden era of the club came to an end, although in 1957 with the fourth league title once again managed to build it.
From now made mostly Colo -Colo and the University teams in the Universidad de Chile and the Catholic University of the championship with each other. Audax sank into mediocrity and finally rose for the first time from 1971. After the 1976 season managed to rise again. Longer the absence, than you again in 1986 had to play their way into the second division and the re comeback was slow in the first division nine years in coming.
The Paraguayan Salvador Cabanas in 2003 and Carlos Villanueva 2007 by Audax were the first Scorers Audax since Carlos Reinoso in 1968. Villanueva was in the same year, footballer of the year in Chile. But most important was the runner-up in Clausura 2006.
For the recent success Audax Italiano was rewarded with his first two Copa Libertadores participation in 2007 and 2008.
Stadium
The home ground of Audax is the multi-purpose stadium Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida. The communal swimming stadium was inaugurated in 1986 and holds 12,000 seats. It has a playing surface made of artificial turf. The stadium is part of a larger sports complex which also training fields, spas, and the like.
The stadium was upgraded for the 2008 taking place U- 20 Women's World Cup. The opening game was a friendly football international match on 13 November 2008 between the women's teams of Chile and France that the host opponents won 3-0. Marie Laure Delie scoring the first goal of the stadium 's history.
