Avrigney - Virey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Avrigney - Virey situated at an altitude of 270 m above sea level, 5 km north of Marnay and about 21 km northwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village extends to the south of the department, on a plateau in the southwest of the Monts de Gy, north of Ognon Valley.

The area of ​​22.30 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside between the valleys of Ognon in the south and Saône in the north. The main part of the area is taken from the plateau of Avrigney, the average is 270 m and has a diameter of about four kilometers. History

Remains of a villa from the Gallo- Roman period at Avrigney and various findings point to a very early settlement of the area.
