Azur (Landes)

Azur is a commune in the Landes department in the region of Aquitaine. It belongs to the community association Communauté de communes Maremne Adour Cote Sud. The current 615 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) are Azurien (ne) s called.

Geography

Azur is located northwest of the Etang de Soustons ( pond of Soustons ) 6 km northwest of Soustons and 9 kilometers east of Moliets -et -Maa between the State Forest Forêt Domaniale de Vielle -Saint -Girons and the community forest Forêt communale de Soustons in the Landes forest.

  • The Etang de Soustons belongs to the Site Inscrit ( scenic monuments ).
  • The Maison de Nogaro ( House of Nogaro ) is registered since 1994 historiques in the additional list of Monuments ( Monuments ). This is a farm that has been built in the 19th century.

Economy

A main branch in Azur is forestry. There is a sawmill and a fish farm site. Is cultivated Agricultural especially asparagus and corn.
