Castets

Castets is a commune with 1976 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Landes department in the region of Aquitaine; it belongs to the administrative district Dax and the eponymous canton Castets, whose capital it is.

Geography

The community is located approximately 115 kilometers southwest of Bordeaux and 56 kilometers north- west of Biarritz in the forest area the Landes forest. Neighboring municipalities are:

  • Lesperon in the Northeast,
  • Taller in the east,
  • Herm in the south,
  • Magesc and Léon in the southwest,
  • Saint -Michel -Escalus in the west and
  • Linxe in the northwest.

The municipal area is drained by the stream Ruisseau de la Palue and its tributary streams to the Atlantic coast ( Bay of Biscay ), which is only about 20 kilometers away. Castets is located on the National Road 10, which runs from Paris to Biarritz on the border to Spain. The town is bypassed by the road to the east.
