Bacoor

Bacoor ( officially: Municipality of Bacoor; Filipino: Bayan ng Bakoor ) is a Philippine municipality in the province of Cavite.

It has 520 216 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ). Bacoor is Dasmariñas after the place with the second highest number of inhabitants and with the highest population density in the province of Cavite.

Geography

Bacoor is on the southeast coast of Manila Bay in the northwest of the province of Cavite. In the East, Las Piñas City and Muntinlupa City limits in the capital region Metro Manila to Bacoor. In the south and west borders Dasmariñas Kawit, both in the province of Cavite, Bacoor on. Las Piñas is separated by the river Zapote Bacoor.

The location Bacoors southwest of Metro Manila makes it an important "gateway " to the capital region Metro Manila. This meaning is reinforced especially by the position of the southern end of the Manila- Cavite Expressway in the area of the municipality.

Economy

Bacoor has developed from an agriculturally dominated region into a commercial hub. Trade and the service sector will play the most important role. Fishing and fish processing have suffered heavy losses in recent years, as a result of pollution, the yield in the fishing has declined sharply. The industrial sector plays only a minor role at the time. However, there are projects for industrial development, such as companies in the cotton industry to locate in Bacoor.

Religions

Catholicism is the dominant religion in Bacoor, mainly due to immigration from Metro Manila. The old-established inhabitants Bacoors are mostly members of the Church Aglipaya. The Aglipaya Church has a long and rich history in Bacoor. The Aglipayan Church in Bacoor was one of the first Catholic communities of the Philippines, joined the new movement. The Catholic priest Fortunato Clemena was the first priest and the first bishop of the Church of Aglipayan Cavite during the schism. Most of the first members were Katipuneros, led by General Mariano Noriel.

A Muslim minority belonging to the ethnic groups of Moros and Bajau, live in Zapotegebiet, where there are also a few mosques.
