General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite

General Mariano Alvarez ( officially: Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez, Filipino: Bayan ng Heneral Mariano Alvarez ) is a Philippine municipality in the province of Cavite.

The municipality is named after General Mariano Alvarez, a famous son of the city municipality Noveleta.

History

The Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez was founded on 14 May 1981 and is the youngest municipality of the province of Cavite. General Mariano Alvarez previously belonged to the municipality of Carmona.

The place was formerly known Carmona Resettlement Project ( Settlement Project Carmona ). This development project was the relocation of settlers who had settled wild in some areas in Quezon City, Manila and Makati.

First Mayor of General Mariano Alvarez was Leoniso G. Virata, who took off the oath of office at the Foundation Day of the Municipality as well as the other members of the city government and the president of the Association of Barangay Councils ( ABC).

2006 committed the municipality of the celebrations for the 25 - year anniversary.

Barangays

General Mariano Alvarez was originally divided into ten barangays.

On 25 March 1985, the original ten barangays were restructured and today's 27 barangays formed. These were named partly after famous sons of the province of Cavite and the ten former Baranggay Captains, who were before of restructuring in the office.
