Indang, Cavite

Indang is a Philippine municipality in the province of Cavite.

Formerly a British village (British Village ) and a British school was established in Indang.

History

Indang (originally: Indan ) was an independent municipality in 1655, after the place had been one of Silang. The name is derived from the Tagalog word indan Indang or inrang for a tree species that occurred in this area from.

In Baranggay Limbon Andrés Bonifacio was captured after the Tejero's Convention was defeated during the Philippine Revolution. Thus he was prevented its counterrevolutionary plans to build a government and army to pursue.

Cavite State University

The main campus of the Cavite State University (formerly Don Severino Agricultural College ) is located in Indang.

Mayor

Mayor Indangs 2004-2007 was Lope Tepora. Mayor since 2007 is Bienvenido dimero.
