Bambrugge is a borough of Erpe -Mere at the Molenbeek in Denderstreek in the Flanders region. It lies in the southeast of the province of East Flanders and belongs to Arrondissement Aalst. The borough is bordered by the boroughs Vlekkem, Ottergem, Mere, Aaigem and burst and the municipalities of Sint -Lievens -Houtem ( borough Zonnegem ). Bambrugge has 1575 inhabitants ( 1 January 2003) and an area of 2.89 km ². The population density is 545 inh. / Km ². In Bambrugge there is a hamlet called Egem.

History

Bambrugge belonged until 1803 to the village burst. According to a census in 1893, the village had 872 inhabitants. Bambrugge was mentioned several times in the Middle Ages. The name probably comes from the so-called Banmolens ( banmolen = Mill constraint ). In these mills serfs were obliged to grind their grain. Another possibility is that the name of the word " baan " ( path = road ) or from Banbrugge ( Bridge of Banno ) is derived.

  • The Egemmolen or Meuleken Tik Tak is an overshot water mill and is in Everdal 21 It was a corn mill. The waterwheel was removed. The mill was largely destroyed, but there are still remnants of this mill and the miller's house ( house of the miller ) is still intact. The mill is not Rijksmonument ( listed building).

Bambruggedorp, Dries, Egemstraat, Katstraat, Kwalestraat and Landsheerstraat are the names of streets. The name of the street where the church is Bambrugger is called Bambruggedorp. Domain Steenberg
