Benetice

Benetice ( German Benetitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers north of Třebíč and belongs to Okres Třebíč.

Geography

Benetice is located on the hillside above the source tray of the stream Klapovský creek, also called Klapůvka, in Krischanauer Bergland ( Křižanovská Highlands ) in the south of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. To the east rises the Oslavička. In the northeast the hills Skalníky collected ( 642 m), in the south the Jelení hlava (616 m). The territory of the village belongs largely to the nature park Třebíčsko.

Neighboring towns are Bochovice and Batouchovice in the northeast, Hroznatín in the east, Horni Vilémovice the southeast, Věstoňovice in the south, and Vartemberk Cervena Lhota in the southwest, Kukla and Čechtín in the west and Kouty and Svatoslav in the northwest.

History

Benetice was founded in the first half of the 13th century during the colonization activity by the Benedictine Třebíč. Was named the village after St.. Benedict of Nursia. The place was initially connected to the Good Třebíč and 1409 was pledged to Stibor of Benetice. Below belonged Benetice various secular owners and was after the secularization of the monastery in 1468 part of the Třebíč. 1774 burned down parts of the village, including the partially existing wooden church. In 1785, a Lokalie was established in Benetice, this was raised after the construction of the new church in 1859 to the parish. 1789, the new cemetery was created.

After the abolition of patrimonial Benetice formed in 1850 with the district Věstoňovice a municipality in the district Třebíč. 1869 lived 214 people in Benetice. 1890 reached the place with 267 inhabitants, is the largest population in its history. In 1979 the village was incorporated into Svatoslav. Since 1990, the community is Benetice again and since 2003, she leads a coat of arms and banners on which the Lion of St. Mark is shown on the colors of Count Waldstein - Wartenberg. The district Benetice today consists of 53 houses and has 136 inhabitants. In the twelve houses of Věstoňovice 56 people.

Attractions

  • Church of Sts. Mark, built in 1853-1859 by the architect Dominik Třebíč Herzán at the new cemetery. After completion of the new church, the old church was demolished.
  • Rectory, built in 1760 next to the old church
  • Sycamore at Věstoňovice, the west of the local part Věstoňovice standing in the woods about 600 -year-old and 12 meters high tree is one of the oldest specimens of its kind in the Czech Republic. He has a trunk circumference of 760 cm.
