Studnice (Třebíč District)

Studnice ( German Studnitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south of Velké Meziříčí and belongs to Okres Třebíč.

Geography

Studnice is located on the right side of the Oslava in Krischanauer Bergland ( Křižanovská Highlands ) in the south of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. North of the village, the hill rises studnička Strážnice (510 m). Also in the north, on the opposite bank of the Oslava, are the remains of the castle Templštejn.

Neighboring towns are Osové, nesmer and Petráveč in the north, Dolni Heřmanice in the northeast, and Oslava Tasov in the east, in the southeast Klementice, Mihoukovice and Rejdůveň in the south, and Kundelov Budišov the southwest, Hodov in the west and Rohy in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Studnice took place in 1366, when Margrave Johann Heinrich gave the village Jan von Meziříč. In 1373 Studnice was recorded as property by Jan Hrb, son of Philip Hrb on Lovcouvitz and Horenitz at Jemnitz, in the Moravian regional records of the district Brno. The Descendants by Jan Hrb on Studnice took their name from the village, and are now known as " Studnitz of " one of the oldest existing Moravian noble families. Since 1749 the site introduced a community seal and coat of arms.

After the abolition of patrimonial Studnice / Studnitz formed in 1850 a district of the municipality in the district Hodau Velké Meziříčí. 1887 was the municipality Studnice. The village consisted of 27 houses in 1890 and had 183 inhabitants. Ten years later the number of houses had remained unchanged, the population had dropped to 175. Since 1961 Studnice belongs to Okres Třebíč.
