Rohy (Třebíč District)

Rohy is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south of Velké Meziříčí and belongs to Okres Třebíč.

Geography

Rohy is located on the right side of the creek Marek in a hillside in Krischanauer Bergland ( Křižanovská Highlands ) in the south of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. East of the village of the hills Rohovec rises (504 m), behind the Valley of the Oslava lies with the remains of the castle Templštejn.

Neighboring towns are Oslavice and Osové in the north, and nesmer Petráveč in the northeast, Eliášova Myslivna and Dolni Heřmanice in the east, in the southeast Studnice, Kundelov and Hodov in the south, Rudíkov the southwest, Vlčatín in the west and Oslavička and Ovčírna in the northwest.

History

Occupied the site of the settlement nesmer in Oslavatal up to the 12th century, the village Nesmír. This was burnt down after the outbreak of the plague and re-erected on its ruins later four houses.

The first written mention of Rohy took place in 1377, when John II the Younger of Meziříč the village of his cousin John III. gave the elders of Meziříč. Henry of Meziříč Rohy sold in 1399 to the Kaplanat Meziříčí. 1481 the village belonged to the altar of St.. John in the Meseritscher Church of St. Nicholas. Until the 17th century Rohy consisted of ten houses. After the Thirty Years' War, Rudolf von Kaunitz acquired the dominion Meseritsch. His son sold the rule, including the associated 31 villages to Peter Freiherr von Ugarte Until the 1720 the place had grown to 20 stores and had 143 inhabitants. 1735 had the Count Ugarte, who had over-indebted to the palace in Meseritsch, sell their property to Duke Leopold of Holstein. 1834 lived 108 people in 25 houses of Rohy.

After the abolition of patrimonial Rohy formed in 1850 a district of the municipality in the district Hodau Velké Meziříčí. 1869 Rohy had 180 inhabitants. 1908 was the municipality Rohy. 1950 was the site of 52 houses and 217 inhabitants had. In the same year the foundation stone was held for a new school. Since 1961 Rohy belongs to Okres Třebíč. The school was closed in 1975 due to low number of students. Since 2002, the municipality performs a coat of arms and banners.
