Geography

Bergatreute located in Upper Swabia on the eastern edge of the Forest Altdorfer at 505-660 m above sea level. NN in unmittelberer close to the Spa Bad Waldsee and Bad Wurzach. The county town of Ravensburg is located just 15 km ( straight line ) southwest.

History

The name Bergatreute suggesting a settlement in the first Christian millennium. The name is likely to originate from a hot Berengar end chieftain who founded a settlement in a clearing. Since 1268 the place belonged to the bailiwick of Swabia, which fell in 1486 to Further Austria. Under the Peace of Pressburg in 1805, the area then came to Württemberg, where it belonged to the upper office Waldsee, which in 1938 came to the district of Ravensburg.

Religions

Bergatreute is dominated Roman Catholic as the surrounding countryside. A parish church is detectable since 1143. The community is home to the parish of St. Philip and James in Bergatreute that belongs to the deanery Waldsee.

Coat of arms

Blazon: In the blue shield three upward -growing golden wheat ears on a heraldic Three mountain.

The coat of arms was created in its present form in 1939. Previously, it consisted of five golden ears of corn on a green hill in front of a blue background.

Structures

Landmarks and art-historically significant building of Bergatreute is the parish and pilgrimage church of St. Philip and James. The baroque church was built in 1730 because the previous parish church was no longer adequate for the reception of pilgrims to the miraculous picture of grace, " Mary of the blood " ( a copy shown in Bergatreute since 1686, the grace image of Re in Piedmont). 1686 came the miraculous image by Bergatreute.

The municipal area has six Roman Catholic chapels, which are also known as " Bergatreuter chapels ":

Also located in Bergatreute with the Gasthaus Adler a testimony of the postal system in Upper Swabia. As of 1530, the Austrian front price of Innsbruck inverted via Füssen, Bergatreute, Mark Village, Stockach, Neustadt (Black Forest), Freiburg, to Alsace Ensisheim. The monument was also the seat of the front Austrian Government College.

Bergatreute is located on the L 314 ( Baienfurt - Bad Wurzach ). The city is connected to some bus lines, among others with Bad Waldsee, Ravensburg and Weingarten and belongs to the Upper Swabia Transport Association.

Education
