The Berliner Tor train station is an important hub of public transport in the east of Hamburg city center. He serves in particular the transition between the trains running here subway lines in the HVV.

History

With the construction of light rail to Ohlsdorf and the construction of the Hamburg Central Station and a realignment of the Berlin- Hamburg line was connected. From the main station to the Berliner Tor this runs parallel to the railway Lübeck, then continues in a southerly direction and closes in Hamburg- Rothenburgsort back to the old route. Both the light rail, the Lübeck railway, the Berlin Railway and the suburban railway to Friedrichsruh received their own central platforms. It was completed in 1906.

1912, the metro station on the circle line on the north side of the street was opened when Strohhause.

In 1958, the mainline route to Berlin, where it due to the division of Germany were hardly any long-distance transport, to Bergedorf equipped for DC operation with power rails, no longer used the platform the train at regular intervals. The construction of the City -S -Bahn the platform of Lübeck railway was removed, an additional platform was instead built with a new track for the S -Bahn trains Ohlsdorf.

S -Bahn

The part belonging to Deutsche Bahn station is on two levels. On the lower level are the two platforms of the S- Bahn lines S1 and S11 (one central and one side platform) and the two tracks of the railway line to Lübeck. In the evening and weekend hours as well at the lower middle platform of the S-Bahn trains end of the line S31 Berliner Tor. On the upper level (partly on the bridge over the Anckelmannplatz ) are the central platform of the S -Bahn lines S2 and S21 and the two tracks of the mainline route towards Berlin, whose still existing central platform has long been out of service. Access to the latter has been built back in the 1980s.

A structural feature of the lower S -Bahn - side platform Ohlsdorf are mounted directly below the platform edge strobe lights. Since the track runs in a tight curve, the distance between the platform edge and Zugeinstieg is partially unusually large. This hazard to the lights to draw attention.

S -Bahn lines

The S2 and S11 only drive during rush hour. The S31 operates this station only to off-peak time.
