Geography

The community Bestensee - located about 35 kilometers south of Berlin - extends from King Wusterhausen in the north to the Official Give little country in the south. In the East, the community is bordered by the community Bestensee Heidesee and to the west by the center wood.

Within the municipal territory there are 12 lakes. These are: Small ( Freudenthal ) Tonsee, Large ( Cameroon ) Tonsee, Pätzer Tonsee that emerged from clay pits in which up to the 1920s clay for the brick production was shut down. The three gravel lakes in the west of the municipality incurred on the setting of the gravel extraction also in the 1920s due to natural groundwater flooding. Todnitzsee, Seechen, Small Bestener lake and Bauernsee and Pätzer front and Hintersee were formed after the last ice age.

The Glunz Trench ( Glunze ) flowing at 1.2 kilometers in length through a lowland forest area, connects Pätzer Vordersee and Todnitzsee.

The highest elevation within the municipal area is the bald head on the eastern shore of the lake Pätzer background with around 77 meters above sea level.

History

The place and its name can be attributed to the Slavic settlement " Bestwin " lead back, which was founded, according to a deed in 1375. The Slavic settlement name can be interpreted as a "good elder ". Still today elderberry shrubs the banks of the small lake Bestener. By decree of January 7, 1938 of the President of the Upper Province of Brandenburg, the small community was incorporated best best in the town of Gross on April 1, 1938. First, the newly formed community should bear the name of United best. By order of the President of the Upper province of Brandenburg, however, the name Bestensee has been set for the newly formed community. The historical centers ( Dorfauen ) of the two old villages large and small best best are very well preserved.

Religion

In Bestensee Church communities work evangelical, New Apostolic and Catholic faith. In the district of Great best gives an evangelical stone church along with Old Cemetery. About one kilometer west of this, the present Grand is Bestener cemetery. Another, landscaped in 1892 cemetery is located in the district of Klein best. In the district Pätz is a Protestant chapel with cemetery.

Since the mayoral election on 11 November 2001, Klaus -Dieter Quasdorf ( Independent Voters Association - Quasdorf for Bestensee eV) Mayor of Bestensee. In the mayoral election on 27 September 2009 he was a candidate for the constituency association - Quasdorf for Bestensee eV against three mayoral candidate.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 1 September 1995.

Blazon: " divided by oblique Links wave cut from gold and blue; above a green chestnut leaf, down a slight left fallen silver fish. "

The golden part symbolizes the Märkischen sand and the blue of the many lakes. Because there are many ( and old ) chestnut in Bestensee, a chestnut leaf is present. The silver diagonally left toppled fish stands for the many fishing

The municipality maintains partnership relations with the community Havixbeck in North Rhine -Westphalia and Gmina Przemęt in powiat Wolsztyński (Poland).

Culture and sights

In the list of monuments in Bestensee and in the list of ground monuments in Bestensee are registered in the list of monuments of the country Brandenburg cultural monuments.

Structures

The stone church in the village of Great top dates from the 14th century.

The train station in the village of Great Best was built in 1878.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Bestensee is located at the intersection of highways 179 and 246 after King Wusterhausen there are about seven kilometers, according to Lubben 55 km, according to Storkow 22 km and 17 km to Zossen. Berlin is about 35 kilometers away.

Bestensee since June 15, 2009, a connection point to the federal motorway 13 (Berlin- Dresden). This is located at the intersection of the highway with the national road 246, the Berlin ring ( Federal Highway 10) is about ten kilometers away.

Bestensee has a train station, where the regional train line RB14 ( Senftenberg - Schönefeld Airport - Berlin - Nauen ) holds every hour. ( - Berlin - Cottbus Rathenow ) In the evenings, the line RB 14 by the Regional-Express line RE 2 is replaced. From May 2010 to 1 September 2011, a section of the railway line Berlin- Görlitz between King Wustershausen and Lübbenau was renewed. Here also the Bestensee station got new barrier-free platforms.

Kindergarten

Bestensee has two kindergartens: the children's village in the Zeesener road in Great top and the forest kindergarten in the district Pätz.

School

The Bestenseer Elementary School ( former comprehensive school ) in the village of Great Best in the Goethe Street 15 was fully refurbished in 2003 and extended. This single storey outbuilding was raised by one floor, is used today mostly of grades 1 and 2, and houses the canteen. With the school year beginning 2010, the outbuilding was extended by a day nursery.
