Bob Kustra

Robert W. "Bob" Kustra ( born March 21, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American politician. Between 1991 and 1998 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Illinois.

Career

Robert Kustra studied at Benedictine College in Atchison (Kansas) political sciences. He then studied at Southern Illinois University Carbondale Public Administration. He finished his studies at the University of Illinois. Professionally, he was university lecturer. He was a member of the faculty from various universities in Illinois and Kentucky. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. From 1980 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Illinois; two years later he moved into the state Senate.

1990 Kustra was elected to the side of Jim Edgar for Lieutenant Governor of Illinois. This post he held from 14 January 1991 until his resignation on 1 July 1998. Yet he was assistant to the governor. In 1996 he failed in the primaries of his party for election to the U.S. Senate.

His resignation took place after his appointment as president of Eastern Kentucky University. He held this post until 2001. Since 2003 he directs the Boise State University in Idaho.
