Boguchar

Boguchar (Russian Богучар ) is a small town in Russia in Voronezh Oblast with a population of 11,811 (as of October 14, 2010 ). It lies on the River Bogutscharka, a tributary of the Don, as well as on the Russian highway from Moscow to Novorossiysk M4.

History

As the founding year of the city shall Boguchar 1701. At that time there for about 200 Cossacks were settled. In the 1720s, a first stone church was built in the place, it also resulted in several craft shops. The city rights were granted to the city in 1779, when he had several thousand inhabitants.
