Boží Dar

Bozi Dar ( German Gottesgab ) is a town with 201 inhabitants in the Bohemian Erzgebirge. The place is one of the most important winter sports centers in the Czech Republic and is considered the highest town in Central Europe.

Geography

Geographical location

Bozi Dar is located in the district of Karlovy Vary and the same region on the ridge of the Ore Mountains in 1028 m height. Gottesgab is located on a plateau in the central and highest part of the Erzgebirge mountain northwest of the wedge ( Klínovec ) on the border with Germany. By car border crossing to Upper Wiesenthal located at the entrance to our numerous cheap market formed, which is now housed in a large market hall.

Not far from Bozi Dar, in Börner meadow at 1215 m high Fichtelbergbahn, is on the German side, the main source of black water. One of the tributaries flowing directly by Bozi Dar and ends at the location of the previous new mill in the black water. Immediately southwest of the town is the 1115 m high Spitzberg ( Božídarský Špičák ).

The town Bozi Dar consists of the districts Bozi Dar ( Gottesgab ) Ryžovna (soaps) and Zlatý Kopec (Gold level ). Basic settlement units are Bozi Dar and Zlatý Kopec.

History

The mining of silver and tin began 1517. Latter ore was washed from tin placer ores in mountain streams. A mid 16th century gold vein discovered was exhausted after about forty years. In order to meet the increasing number of people employed in mining worker justice, was founded in 1530 by order of the Elector of Saxony in the reign Schwarzenberg a mountain town. The name derives from the tradition was according to a saying of the sovereign: " This precious metal is your bread, which is a gift from God! " - Gottesgab. Before that was the name, according to legend wintergreen. 1547 Saxon mining towns Gottesgab and plates were incorporated into the Kingdom of Bohemia.

The Bohemian German population was expelled in 1945 for the most part. On 1 December 1930, the city Gottesgab 1048 inhabitants, on 17 May 1939 were 938 and on May 22, 1947 still 189 residents. In the 1950s, Bozi Dar, the city lost rights. Since 13 October 2006, is a city again.

Attractions

  • The most important building of the church is the Baroque Church of St. Anna from the year 1772. Their bell is the work of Joachim Thaler tin and bell founder Hans Wild.
  • God Gaber raised bog ( Božídarské rašeliniště ), which is crossed by an approximately three-kilometer trail. There are typical bog plants such as the rare dwarf birch.
  • The Anton -Günther monument was erected in 1936 to mark the 60th birthday of the god Gaber local poet. It is located on the lawn in front of the town hall next to a memorial stone dedicated to the Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis, who lived in the nearby houses scattered settlement Forester 1929-1931.
  • Along the trench Plattner Art of Bozi Dar to Horni Blatna ( mountain town plates) introduces about twelve kilometers long trail.
  • Below the mountain near the wedge ( Klínovec ) branches off a path to Dreiherrenstein from Oberwiesenthal.
