Brachetto d'Acqui

Brachetto d' Acqui is a sweet, Italian red wine Alessandria and Asti, Piedmont from the provinces. It is available as a still wine, light ( frizzante ) and strong ( spumante ) beady.

The main towns in the 1,085 -acre DOCG zone ( since 7 June 1996) are Nizza Monferrato and Acqui.

Several wineries, mostly as a sideline, this acreage share in the communities Vesime, Cessole, Loazzolo, Bubbio Monastero Bormida, Rocchetta Palafea, Montabone, Fontanile, Mombaruzzo, Maranzana Quaranti, Castel Boglione, Castel Rocchero, Sessame, Castelletto Molina, Calamandrana, Cassinasco, (all from the province of Asti) and Acqui Terme, Terzo, Bistagno, Alice Bel Colle, Strevi, Ricaldone, Cassine and Visone province of Alessandria. In the year 2007 29.558 hectoliters of wine was produced from a total of 1,187 growers.

The wine is made usually from 100 percent of the grape, Brachetto. An admixture of Aleatico or Moscato Nero is permitted with a maximum of 20 percent.
