Brandon Roy

Brandon Dawayne Roy ( born July 23, 1984 in Seattle, Washington ) is an American professional basketball player who was until May 2013 in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves under contract.

Career

High School

Brandon Roy attended Garfield High School in Seattle and was known as one of the best high school basketball player of the state. He thought for a moment right after high school in the 2002 NBA Draft to sign, but he ultimately opted against it.

College

Roy went for four years at the University of Washington where he played under coach Lorenzo Romar Basketball. After his first year, he pondered again log on to the NBA Draft, but he decided against it again. In his second year he scored 20.2 points per game, has been named Pac -10 Player of the Year nominated and was elected to the All-American team.

Since 22 January 2009, the University of Washington Roy's jersey number 3 does not forgive more.

Portland Trail Blazers (2006-2011)

In NBA Draft 2006 Roy was drafted sixth of the Minnesota Timberwolves, but his draft rights were immediately transferred to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for the rights to Randy Foye.

In his rookie season 2006-2007 Brandon Roy scored an average of 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4 assists per game. At the end of the season Roy was awarded the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He received 127 of 128 possible first -place votes. In addition, Brandon NBA All- Rookie First Team was elected unanimously in the 2006/ 07. The following season, Roy started in the first 48 games of the season, recording 19.1 points, 5.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. He was elected to the NBA All -Star Game in 2008 in which he was able to record 18 points and 9 rebounds for itself.

Before the NBA season 2008/2009, Roy underwent surgery on his left knee. After a few weeks of rehabilitation, he was, however, to start the season again operational. On 18 December 2008, he succeeded in making his Career High 52 points in a game against the Phoenix Suns. He also handed in this game of six assists and collected five rebounds. On 24 January 2011 he was able to set up a Career and set a team record as he has seen for itself 10 steals in a game against the Washington Wizards. As in the previous season already, Roy was appointed again in the NBA All -Star Game. At the end of the season he was voted into the All -NBA Team Second.

On 5 August 2009 Roy signed a four -year contract ( with a player option for a fifth year) at the Trail Blazers. In the 2009-2010 season, Roy was elected for the third time in a row in the NBA All -Star Game, but this year he had to stop due to an injury. On April 11, 2010, he injured his right knee so badly that he had to undergo surgery. He returned in the fourth game of the first round of the NBA playoffs again. Despite injury Roy was elected team in the All- NBA Third.

In December 2011, Roy explained that he ended his active career due to persistent knee problems.

Comeback - Minnesota Timberwolves (2012-2013)

After the NBA season 2011/2012 Roy announced that it reached an agreement with the Minnesota Timberwolves on a doped with $ 10.4 million two - year contract. He will carry as already at the high school, again wear the number 3. However, Roy was able to complete only 5 games into the season for the Timberwolves due to injuries, scoring an average of 5.8 points and 4.6 assists per game. After the season, the Timberwolves Roy dismissed from his ongoing contract.
