Brent is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Escambia County in the U.S. state of Florida with 21,804 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Brent is directly adjacent to the city of Pensacola. The CDP is traversed or affected by Interstates 10 and 110, from U.S. Highway 29 and the Florida State Roads 292, 295, 296 and 742.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 21,804 inhabitants distributed to 8,074 households. The population density was 807.6 inh. / Km ². 51.7 % of the population were white, 39.1% African American, 0.8 % Native American and 3.8 % Asian Americans. 1.5% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.2% in different ethnic groups. 4.2% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 24.3 % of all households lived in 35.5 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 65.8 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.60 persons and the average family size is 3.15 people.

30.8 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 33.0 % were 20-39 years old, 21.5% were 40-59 years old and 14.6 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 27 years. 46.9 % of the population were male and 53.1 % female.

The average annual income was $ 31,567, while 26.8 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 93.05 % of the population spoke Spanish 4.11% and 2.84 % had a different mother tongue.
