West Pensacola is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Escambia County in the U.S. state of Florida with 21,339 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

West Pensacola bordered to the east directly to Pensacola. The CDP is from U.S. Highway 90 (SR 10A) and 98 ( SR 30 ) and the Florida State Roads 292, 295, 298 and 727 crosses or touches.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 21,339 inhabitants distributed to 10,246 households. The population density was 1147.3 inh. / Km ². 47.8 % of the population were white, 42.2% African American, 1.0% Native American and 3.3% Asian Americans. 2.4% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.3% in different ethnic groups. 5.2% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 24.4 % of all households lived in 34.0 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 60.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.49 persons and the average family size is 3.13 people.

30.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.3% were 20-39 years old, 27.0% were 40-59 years old and 16.6 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 34 years. 47.4 % of the population were male and 52.6 % female.

The average annual income was $ 28,567, while 31.9 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.92 % of the population spoke Spanish 2.19% and 2.89 % had a different mother tongue.
