Ensley is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Escambia County in the U.S. state of Florida with 20,602 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Ensley is 2 km north-west of Pensacola. The CDP is from Interstate 10, from the U.S. Highways 29 and 90 (SR 10) and the Florida State Roads 290, 291 and 297 crosses or touches.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 20,602 inhabitants distributed to 9,677 households. The population density was 643.8 inh. / Km ². 62.1 % of the population were white, 29.8 % African American, 1.1% Native American and 2.2% Asian Americans. 1.7% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.1% in different ethnic groups. 4.9% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 26.5 % of all households lived in 31.0 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 63.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.43 persons and the average family size is 2.98 people.

25.9 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.8 % were 20-39 years old, 25.2% were 40-59 years old and 20.2% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 37 years. 47.9 % of the population were male and 52.1% female.

The average annual income was $ 38,772, while 18.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 96.43 % of the population spoke Spanish 1.61% and 1.96% had a different mother tongue.
