Březí (Prague-East District)

Březí ( German Bries ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located about four kilometers northeast of Říčany and belongs to Okres Praha- východ.

Geography

Březí is located on the eastern edge of the brook Výmola Babitzer forest. Neighboring towns are Sluštice in the north, Třebohostice in the northeast, Doubek in the east, in the southeast Babice, Strašín in the south, Říčany the southwest, Pacov in the west and Křenice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village Bříza place in the year 1303.

1719 was Březí from 9 villages. In 1732 by Empress Maria Theresa renew the ruined church of St. Bartholomew. In 1843 the town had expanded to 25 properties and had 200 inhabitants. In 1976 the construction of single-family homes began. 1980 was the merger with Babice and Doubek to a common community, which was re-dissolved in 1990.
