Carl Johan Bergman

Carl Johan Bergman Lennart (born 14 March 1978 in Eksharad, community Hagfors ) is a former Swedish biathlete.

Active for the first time in the World Cup he was in the 2000/ 01 season. His first World Cup victory won Bergman on 16 March 2006 in the sprint over 10 km in the Finnish Kontiolahti before Tomasz Sikora and Sven Fischer. Other achievements include second place in the pursuit race in Fort Kent in the 2003/ 04 and two third places in the sprint and pursuit in Pokljuka in the season 2005/06.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006 he was defeated in the battle for the bronze medal as the final runner of the Swedish season in the final sprint to the Frenchman Vincent DeFrasne only by a Strauchler few meters before the finish.

In Oberhof he succeeded in the 2004/05 season with the Swedish squadron a sensational victory over 4 x 7,5 km. In Vancouver - Whistler 2009, he succeeded the same with the Swedish squadron again. In the Biathlon World Championships in Anterselva 2007 he won the gold medal in the mixed relay in Sweden. In the Biathlon World Championships 2009 in Pyeongchang he won in the same discipline the silver medal and 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk bronze. Carl Johan Bergman took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. His best result was the 19th place in the pursuit. With the season he was ranked fourth

After two first places in the World Cup 2011/12, Bergman was able to secure the silver medal in the pursuit at the world championships in Ruhpolding to a third place in the sprint. In the individual competition renounced Bergman to in Lillehammer at the birth of his first child - being there to - a daughter. For mass start, he was back again in Ruhpolding, finishing in sixth place. In the World Cup, he finished sixth overall in the Sprint Cup, he reached 3rd place behind Martin Fourcade and Emil Hegle Svendsen. He won the World Team Challenge at the Arena auf Schalke in Gelsenkirchen, together with the Finland's Kaisa Mäkäräinen.

After the 2013/2014 season Bergman ended his athletic career together with Björn Ferry.

Bergman is married to Liv - Kjersti Bergman since August 2010 and is coached by Staffan Eklund. Since 2012, he has one daughter.
