Carl Prean

Carl Prean ( born August 20, 1967 in Ryde (Isle of Wight ) ) is an English table tennis players. He has played for years in the table tennis league competition ( inter alia, for border adjustment, Jülich and Saarbrücken) and in the Olympic Games in Seoul, Barcelona and Atlanta. Since the 2006/2007 season he plays for German regional league Post Sports Club Wuppertal, with whom he is risen from the league.

Young people

With 8 years Carl Prean table tennis started playing, he was encouraged by his father. As a 13 -year-old he won the national championship of students and young people. In 1981 he won with Billy Gleave the Team Championship of the students, in 1982 he brought in Hollabrunn in a single title.

In 1983 he finished second in the English Ranking 1 In the same year he won the European Youth Championships in doubles (with Nicky Mason). In 1985 he was European Junior Champion in singles and mixed ( with Csilla Bátorfi ).

Material and style of play

Even as a youth played Prean an " offensive material game". He uses a combination racket with long pimples and a 2.5 mm attacking rubber. He is a three time English champion in men's singles.

Private

Preans mother grew up in Aachen, his father John Prean in Austria; He was from 1987 to 1991 Chairman of the English Table Tennis Association ETTA. In August 1985, Carl Prean received German citizenship, henceforth he possessed dual nationality. This entitled him to act internationally for England and play at the same time, despite the nationality clause from 1985 in a German club.
