Cavriago

Cavriago is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9729 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia -Romagna. The community is located about 8.5 kilometers west of Reggio Emilia. The Enza flows 6.5 km west of Cavriago.

History

996 The place is first mentioned. The document from the Kapitulararchiv Parma is still preserved and records the donation of a Befesting called Corviaco by the Countess Rolenda, an ( illegitimate ) daughter of Hugh I., to Paulone Bovini (or Paulone Bruini ) on 1 December 996 However, the indicated name already on a Roman foundation ( curvus ager, through the mountainous region ) back. Given the few kilometers north-trending cross Via Emilia is close to this conclusion.

Traffic

The Strada Statale 9 Via Emilia and is 4 kilometers north of Cavriago from Parma to Reggio Emilia. Two breakpoints at the non-electrified railway line from Reggio Emilia to Canossa Ciano d' Enza - exist in Cavriago.

Trivia

In Cavriago is one of the few Lenin monuments in Western Europe. The Marxist-Leninist Party of Italy commemorates him here in January.
