Central Europe Rally

The Central Europe Rally was a marathon rally. She was discharged in 2008 as a replacement event for the 2008 Dakar Rally, which was canceled due to threat of terrorism in Central Europe.

The rally started on April 20, 2008 in Budapest, and led a 2671 km long route to Romania and back to Hungary, where they ended 26 April 2008 at Lake Balaton. 238 teams participated in this event. Organizer of the rally was the Hungarian Balázs Szalay, who took part at the same time on a Opel Antara as a driver.

The Central Europe Rally was the first running of the new Dakar Series, which was founded on January 4, 2008 by the Amaury Sport Organisation.
