Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne

Châtillon -sur -Chalaronne is a commune with 4940 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Ain ​​, in the Rhône -Alpes. It is the capital of the canton of the same name.

Geography

Châtillon -sur -Chalaronne located on the banks of the River Chalaronne in the west of the department in the center of the landscape Dombes.

History

For centuries it was known as Chatillon en Dombes or Châtillon -les- Dombes until the current name was officially in the 20th century.
