Choice of Weapon is the ninth studio album by the British rock band The Cult. It was released on May 22, 2012, after it had previously been announced for 2011.
Formation
The album was recorded from March 2011 with Chris Goss. This was also produced in 2010, the Capsule EPs. Goss also contributed additional guitar tracks and background vocals. The recordings took place in New York City, Los Angeles and the " California desert " instead. In November 2011 it was announced that Bob Rock also participates in the production.
This reasoned Ian Astbury thus, the collaboration with Chris Goss had something " worn out ":
"We started with Chris Goss, who is a very close friend and somebody I've been friends with for over 20 years. And we always Talked about doing a record together CULT. Chris did all the refinement, helping us find the material, craft it, and I think we've been at it for quite a while. It just Became attrition. Everyone was getting kind of exhausted. Kind of wearing eachother out in the studio. "
