Occupation

Dreamstime is an album by the British rock band The Cult. The album was released by the label Beggars Banquet Records in 1984. It was a first Respect success for the band and reached number 21 on the British charts.

Formation

Having had become of Death Cult, the band The Cult, they went into the studio in early 1984 to record their debut. The album was recorded until the beginning of April 1984 in Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales, late March and late April 1984 mixed at Eel Pie in Twickenham. The text of the song Horse Nation comes almost verbatim from the book Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee ( Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee ) of the writer Dee Brown. Some early pressings, which still appeared on the old label situation Two, contain a different version of the play Go West ( Crazy Spinning Circles). Since the band did not like this version, they took the piece in June 1984 on new, after they had signed with Beggars Banquet Records. It then came as Go West on the album.

Reception

Ned Raggett of Allmusic highlighted alongside Ian Astburys singing especially Billy Duffy's' dramatic, Western - flavored, dark - psychedelic " guitar playing. Although a lot is sometimes too flashy and dramatic, to be easily digestible, one could the band does not lack energy accuse. Despite the fact that the band will always improve it soon, the album Dreamtime is still attractive enough to listen to it. He forgave four out of five stars.
