Christopher Zanella

Christopher Zanella ( born October 21, 1989 in Waldshut, Germany ) is a Swiss race car driver. He started in 2013 in the Formula Renault 3.5.

Career

At the age of 13 years began in 2003 Zanella his motorsport career in karting, where he was active until 2007. In 2006, he debuted in Formula racing and competed in the Formula Lista junior. In 2007, he competed in four races in the Swiss Formula Renault. 2008 Zanella remained in the Swiss Formula Renault and won the championship title in this series ahead of his compatriot Simon Trummer. In addition, he participated in four races of the Formula Renault 2.0 Euro Cups in part. In 2009 he moved to Moto Park Academy in the Formula 3 Euro Series. His best result was a second place at the final race on the Hockenheimring. In the overall classification, he finished 13th overall.

2010 Zanella moved to JD Motorsport in the Italian Formula 3 Championship. With a second place finish in the season opener as the best result, he finished the season in sixth place overall. He also appeared for Moto Park Academy as a guest starter for three and a race driver to a race weekend of the Formula 3 Euro Series season 2010. In the overall standings he was 15th in 2011 Zanella took part in the FIA Formula 2 Championship. With two wins, seven podium finishes and 193 points, he was behind Mirko Bortolotti, who scored 316 points, runner-up. 2012 graduated Zanella another Formula 2 season. He again won two races and was seven times on the podium. In the overall standings, he fell back to third place in the previous year.

After the formula was set 2 the end of the 2012 season, moved Zanella 2013 in the Formula Renault 3.5 to ISR Racing. He started with a third place at Monza in the season. After he had brought in the following two races again points, he remained the rest of the season without points. He finished the season in 16th place. With 25 to 61 points he lost internally Sergei Sirotkin.
