Chrysler Pacifica

Chrysler Pacifica (2003-2006)

The Chrysler Pacifica is a car model of the American car manufacturer Chrysler, the properties of an estate car, a van and a sport utility vehicle together and is therefore referred to as a crossover SUV.

The production of the model offered exclusively in North America began in early 2003 at the Chrysler plant in Windsor ( Ontario) in Canada. When the Pacifica was introduced in the 2004 model year, it was positioned below the Chrysler Aspen.

The preparation was suspended in November 2007 due to low demand. The sale ended in model year 2008.

As an indirect successor to the Chrysler brand composite of slightly smaller Dodge Journey can be seen.

Design

Visually, the car designed by Freeman Thomas is based very strongly on the back in 2002 at the North American International Auto Show featured, concept car of the same name. The approximately 5.05 meter long car, thereby founding a new subcategory of the SUV - called crossover - and most likely competed with the conceptually very similar designed but more expensive Mercedes -Benz R-Class. Featured is the Pacifica on the front of a relatively large grille, an indicated underride guard, a little more angular front lights than in the study and two wide chrome inserts in the bumper. The side view is characterized by a light edge that starts in the fenders and runs out into the taillights. Furthermore, depending on the version, as well disguised front and rear, the lower portion of the doors with dark gray plastic. On simple and straightforward designed rear disc is optically broadened by the to the rear lights leaking roof rails. In the interior there are depending on features five seats in two rows or six seats in three rows, which can be folded down to form a flat cargo space. The cockpit is designed with round and a special feature is the located in the speedometer display for the navigation system.

Equipment

At the start of sales, the model simply called Pacifica was the only equipment line, from model year 2005 there was the base versions (since my 2006 LX), the higher Touring version and the flagship Limited and the special edition Signature Series. Technology

Based on the Chrysler RS platform that utilize the MPV Chrysler Voyager / Grand Voyager and Dodge Caravan / Grand Caravan, giving a slightly adapted version called CS, which uses only the Pacifica. These changes were necessary because the Pacifica was available with either front - or all-wheel drive. At first he had a 3.5 -liter V6 petrol engine with 184 kW (250 hp ), which was taken from the Chrysler 300M and combined with a four-speed automatic. Was in the 3.8-liter version, or 186 kW ( 253 hp) replaced the 4.0-liter model Later this by two different V- six-cylinder petrol engines with 160 kW (218 hp).

Revision

Mid-2006 was presented an optically modified version of the Pacifica.

Here, the design of the front was mainly revised. So there was now more rounded, silver instead of gray colored headlights and a slightly different grille with three instead of four chrome-plated crossbars. In addition, the front bumper has been redesigned and a continuous chrome strip replaced the two-piece predecessor. At the rear, the bumper was only somewhat different. Furthermore, the lateral light edge visually shortened by the new fenders, larger exterior mirrors and changed the surface of the bonnet by longitudinal corrugations.

New alloy wheels, a rear view camera and special seat covers from dirt, water, and Geruchsabweisendem and antistatic material were other features of the facelifted version.
