Chrysler ME Four-Twelve

The Chrysler ME Four -Twelve is a prototype, the DaimlerChrysler under the brand names Chrysler made ​​in 2004. For design and development less than a year was needed. The name derives from "Mid Engine with Four turbochargers on a Twelve - cylinder engine " from ( mid-engine with four turbochargers on a V12 engine ). The projected top speed was 400 km / h over that of the McLaren F1, but the car was never produced in small series.

Chrysler stated initially that the ME Four -Twelve should be a prototype for the later series production. Later, the project was temporarily stopped because some objections came from the SLR division of Mercedes -Benz. In autumn 2005, Chrysler was known, however, that the project would now probably further developed.

Technology

Chassis, Suspension and steering

ME Four Twelve has a monocoque chassis, a sandwich construction with covering layers of carbon fiber reinforced plastic ( CFRP ), and an aluminum honeycomb structure as a core. Monocoque chassis means that the frame is mainly made ​​of a single bearing shell. The largest part of the body is also made of CFRP in combination to me crumple zones in aluminum. The Chrysler has internally ventilated brake discs made ​​from carbon -ceramic ( carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide ) with 381 mm diameter with six-piston calipers front and rear. The wheels are made ​​of lightweight die-cast metal with dimensions of 19x10 inches ( front) and 20x12, 5 inches ( rear). The tire size is 265/35 ZR 19 front and 335 /30 ZR - 20 rear.

Another detail on the ME Four -Twelve is the active rear spoiler. It can be moved 100mm rearward, whereby 1356 N downforce at 299 km / h produced.

Engine and transmission

The ME Four -Twelve has a mid-engine and rear wheel drive. Here Chrysler has a 60 ° V12 engine with 5,980 cc of AMG used which is equipped with four turbochargers, which produce a maximum boost pressure of 2.86 bar. He has four overhead camshafts, three valves per cylinder, a compression ratio of 9.0:1, a dry sump lubrication and an electronic sequential multi- point injection.
