Cizur
Cizur (Basque Zizur Zendea ) is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of Navarre and is located about seven kilometers west of Pamplona. The community consists of eleven sites, eight of which own Ortvertretung ( Concejo ) possess. The places its own representatives are Astrain Cizur Menor, Gazólaz, Larraya, Muru - Astrain Paternáin, Undiano and Zariquiegui. In addition there are the now uninhabited places Eriete, Guenduláin and Sagues to the community. Furthermore, the old name Cendea de Cizur is in use.
History
As discoveries of worked flints show, the municipality has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In the Middle Ages the castle Guenduláin and other manors in other villages emerged. During this time, large parts of its territory in the possession of ecclesiastical institutions, such as the Order of Malta and the monasteries of Irache and Roncesvalles. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the population experienced a certain economic recovery. The 20th century was marked by a strong population growth in places that are close to Pamplona, while the rural locations were marked by decline.
City council
In 1979, the first democratic local elections took place, in which all adult residents were allowed to participate with Spanish or EU citizenship. Eleven were elected aldermen. The town hall with the office of the Mayor is located in the village of Gazólaz.
Economy
The community is dominated by agriculture especially. The tourist service sector experienced significant growth in recent years by the strongly increasing number of pilgrims and tourists on the Camino Francés.
