Claire Allen

Claire Allen ( born July 29, 1853 in Pontiac, Michigan, United States, † December 22, 1942 in Jackson, Michigan, United States) was at the beginning of the 20th century a prominent southern Michigan architect. He was the head of the architectural firm Claire Allen & Sons and worked in Jackson for 52 years as an architect.

As a young man he was a construction worker and building contractor and as such participates in the construction of Ionia County Courthouses, a school in Dexter, Michigan and numerous houses and other buildings in Belding and Ionia and the textile mill of the Belding Brothers. Some of the Court Housees that created Allen for Countyverwaltungen, are an example of the American neoclassical architecture, but Allen also designed numerous buildings in the style of Colonial Revival.
