Col de la Croix de Fer

The Col de la Croix de Fer ( German "Iron Cross Pass " ) is a French Alpine pass. The 2067 -meter-high transition is located in the Rhône -Alpes ( Savoie département ) on the D 926 and connects Rochetaillée near Le Bourg d'Oisans in the Romanche Valley and Saint -Jean -de- Maurienne in the Maurienne valley.

Access from the north-east from Saint -Jean -de- Maurienne measures 29.5 kilometers, that of the south-west of Rochetaillée 31.5 km. When approaching from Rochetaillée branches 2.5 km before the pass the road to the Col du Glandon (1924 m ) from, which is reached after a few hundred meters. From the Col du Glandon you get to Saint -Étienne -de- Maurienne Cuines in the valley (22 km).

The Col de la Croix de Fer was 16 times so far in the Tour de France program, but was there ever stage finish. For the first time sailed the Tour de France the pass in 1947, the last time 12 July 2012 during the 11th stage of the 2012 Tour de France (July 2012).
