Cornelia Polit ( born February 18, 1963 in Teutschenthal ) is a former German swimmer who competed for East Germany.

Throughout her swimming career politicians changed their swimming style preference. At first she was and back then successful on the on the butterfly distances.

As early as 1978 it was double European Youth champion in the 100 meters and 200 meters backstroke distance. Your only Olympic medal, the silver, 200m backstroke behind Rica Reinisch, she won at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.
