Cucugnan

Cucugnan ( oc. Cucunhan ) is a municipality ( as at 1 January 2011) with 135 inhabitants in France. It is situated in the Aude department in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. Cucugnan is part of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes des Hautes Corbières and is located in the geographic region Corbières.

Part of the agricultural land is used for growing grapes and vineyards are located within the protected designation of origin Corbières.

Attractions

Is located at an altitude of 728 m above sea Quéribus, a fortress, which was a refuge for many Cathars during the Albigensian Crusade. Among them was the Bishop Benedict of Termes, who died in 1231 in the fortress.
